President Donald Trump blasted the new administration for its decision to end Obama’s signature climate initiative, which President Donald J. Trump said would have been “a huge step backward.”

“We were so close to a historic breakthrough in climate change, but we’ve lost that,” Trump said in a speech at the White House on Friday.

“We’re losing the climate war.”

In his speech, Trump also attacked the Obama administration for trying to undermine the climate.

“President Obama’s EPA is waging a war against the American people and their ability to prosper,” he said.

“They’ve used every tool in the arsenal of the Executive Branch to undermine America’s standing as a global leader in fighting climate change.

Their efforts to weaken our environment are undermining our economy, our jobs and our future.”
